The Planning Department in University Planning and Implementation will assist the institution by managing an open, physical facilities planning process that considers an all encompassing view of each of its campuses. The Planning Department is responsible for planning all building and land use projects including small (valued at less than $250,000), large (valued at more than $250,000), and infrastructure projects, on the Athens and all regional campuses. It is also this department's responsibility to manage the allocation and utilization of eight million square feet of space that constitutes the Ohio University Athens Campus.

The planning dept. recognizes leadership in Energy and Environmental Design ( LEED) standards and partners with the Implementation Department to demonstrate a commitment to sustainability.
