Space Management is concerned primarily with allocation and utilization of University general fund space. Space management functions are governed by the Ohio University Board of Trustees 1992 resolution on Space Utilization and Management as well as relevant provisions of University policies 01.024, 01.025, and 37.004. Space Management reports to the University Planner.
Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluate requests for new space allocations and requests for changes in uses or configurations of allocated space.
- Identify priorities for reallocation of vacated space.
- Advise planning officers on priorities and options for space allocation and utilization in general fund buildings, including capital priorities.
- Mediate and/or arbitrate space conflicts.
- Collaborate with the registrar's office and colleges in scheduling of instructional space.
- Monitor use and condition of commonly scheduled classrooms.
- Develop/select and apply allocation standards for various space types and functions.
- Assess space utilization and report assessments to planning unit heads and executive officers.
- Gather and maintain the university's inventory of space and provide inventory reports to other university departments as needed.
